Professionally, I am an architect. I used my artistic skills and creativity while attaining my degree, but while pursuing other interests and other things throughout my life, art has been a constant. I have never, not created art. It has only been the last few years that I have focused more of my time to creating art.
I am self taught and my methods and materials are a result of trial and error. Find an interesting pen, purchase a pretty piece of paper, notice one brand of colored pencil blends better than the other. I work primarily with ink and colored pencil on primed masonite.
I currently live in Downers Grove, Illinois, but I was raised in northern Wisconsin. I only mention where I grew up because the landscape had a profound influence on my art. As a kid, I spent a lot of time outdoors playing in the woods, picking wild flowers and riding my bike out in the countryside. I try to capture the child’s vision of that wild, northern, wooded landscape with a playful whimsy.
My trees are full of intricate patterns that are interrupted and broken apart. I like to include a sense of humor, bold colors and a lot of little details that are easy to overlook at first glance. I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy creating it.
All pieces are complete with finished edges and a wire on the back, ready to hang....
Works are for sale and can be shipped, just send me an email if you are interested in any pieces.
Post cards! That what.
I have created a series of 4" x 6" post card sized art pieces. The original pieces are available for purchase, but packets of complete sets of the 10 images have been made into note cards that are now available for purchase online.
These little cards can be sent to the love of your life, lonely friends, attached to gifts, hung on your refrigerator, the possibilities are endless.
That's right, you can buy small pieces of art from vending machines in locations around Elgin, Illinois.
Did you know I also write and publish books? I didn't think so. To be honest, I've only published 1 comic book and 1 coloring book. Please check them out at the link below.
I am a member of the Naperville Art League. Come and visit the gallery, we have monthly shows with works for sale.
There is always something new.
